Eurosport redefines the broadcasting of the Olympic Games in the 4K Summit El CEO de Eurosport, Peter Hutton, ha participado en la 4K Summit 2017 para exponer la ambiciosa propuesta de cara a los Juegos Ol mpicos de PyeongChang 2018, primeros Juegos que ofrecer el canal deportivo tras el acuerdo alcanzado con el Comit Ol mpico Internacional en 2015.
Peter Hutton, CEO de Eurosport, ha participado en la 4K Summit 2017 para exponer la ambiciosa propuesta de cara a los Juegos Ol mpicos de PyeongChang 2018, primeros Juegos que ofrecer el canal deportivo tras el acuerdo alcanzado con el Comit Ol mpico Internacional en 2015. Este acuerdo otorg a Discovery Communications y Eurosport todos los derechos de retransmisi n de televisi n y multiplataforma en Europa para los Juegos, tanto de verano como de invierno, celebrados durante el periodo 2018-2024.
Eurosport ofrecer los primeros Juegos digitales en Europa, con una cobertura en directo y bajo demanda. El servicio interactivo Eurosport Player ser el nico lugar donde los aficionados podr n seguir online' cada minuto de cada deportista y de cada deporte, en m viles, tablets o a trav s de televisiones conectadas. Eurosport Player pondr a disposici n de los usuarios m s de 4.000 horas de cobertura y 100 eventos, incluyendo 900 horas de emisi n en directo, m s que nunca antes en todo el continente.
Hutton se mostr convencido de que el deporte ol mpico se ver fortalecido en el continente europeo con la emisi n de los Juegos en Eurosport ya que uno de los pilares fundamentales del proyecto ol mpico de Discovery y Eurosport es contar las historias de una manera diferente y hacerlo a lo largo de todo el a o y no s lo durante las dos semanas que duran los Juegos.
Para ello, Eurosport ofrecer contenido ol mpico durante todo el a o, hasta la llegada de los Juegos Ol mpicos y durante la celebraci n de los mismos. Estos ser n los puntos clave de la cobertura: directo, con un seguimiento minuto a minuto de los Juegos y de los deportes ol mpicos a lo largo de todo el a o; innovaci n, con la utilizaci n de la ltima tecnolog a como la realidad virtual (VR) y la realidad aumentada (con una interesante experiencia que han denominado el Cubo) con el fin de atraer a un p blico nuevo y m s joven; una nueva narrativa para llevar a los aficionados m s cerca de sus h roes locales y acercarles a la persona que hay detr s del deportista; y por ltimo, Eurosport incluir contenido que mostrar la cultura surcoreana para que los aficionados conozcan la ciudad donde se van a celebrar los Juegos y las costumbres del pa s asi tico.
Hutton destac que cuando la Eurosport que conoci hace tres a os cuando se incorpor a la compa a nada tiene que ver con el momento actual que vive. Hace tres a os se trabajaba en base a una idea obsoleta y ahora las instalaciones se renovaron con un enfoque de negocio nuevo, invirtiendo en contenido y producci n. Como consecuencia de ello ha subido la audiencia en un 25% en pocos meses . Nuestro objetivo ahora es conseguir una escala de producci n con una base de calidad , a adi .
Por su parte, Fernando Ruiz, Sports Editorial Senior manager en Eurosport, destac que el objetivo del canal es implicando m s a la audiencia, sobre todo a los j venes, fomentando el movimiento ol mpico.
OBS y el 4K
Guillermo P rez, director de ingenier a de sistemas broadcast en Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), reconoci que aunque el 4K est en el punto de mira del brazo televisivo del COI, en ning n caso quieren comprometer el producto principal en HD para lograr los m s altos niveles de calidad. OBS est ya colaborando con NHK de cara a la producci n de los Juegos de Tokio 2020 en Ultra Alta Definici n.
Para los Juegos de Invierno de PyeongChang 2018, OBS emplear un total de 24 unidades de producci n, mientras que en Tokio ya dispondr n de 74 unidades. Cada unidad de producci n es distinta por lo que se necesita una minuciosa labor de planificaci n con a os de antelaci n , asegur . Trabajar en PyeongChang todo en 4K ser a un plan demasiado ambicioso. Pero se van a ofrecer algunos eventos en 4K, no en HDR por un motivo b sico ya que debemos garantizar que la conversi n de HDR a SDR mantiene la calidad al m s alto nivel , a adi . En la cita ol mpica de invierno OBS producir un total de diez se ales en 4K de diferentes competiciones deportivas as como cuatro se ales con im genes de recurso, presentaciones de las sedes Todo esto se distribuir en banda base aunque P rez ya adelant que para Tokio 2020 la tecnolog a IP nos permitir producir m s contenidos en 4K y con m s formatos de distribuci n .
