Following the successes of 2015, the film industry moves optimistically into the new year which begins as usual with lots of glamour at the various award ceremonies. Apart from the headline grabbing stars, there are heroes behind the scenes that are providing the spectacular technical innovations that make some of the blockbusters possible in the first place.
Cinec in Munich from 17 - 19th September will again provide an international market place to all users and decision makers of the cinema, TV and media sector, with infinite opportunities to buy, sell, network, present, and discuss.
This year's exhibition will once again be accompanied by the cineCongress, which offers exciting lectures and workshops encompassing the entire workflow of making movies - from the initial idea to production as well as the increasing number of ways of exploitation and distribution. Some of the focuses of the cineCongress this year are New Content, Production beyond HD, camera trends, new LED-technologies, implementation of VR and AR, IP-Production, cloud-solutions, innovative display and projection technologies, new audio-formats, film heritage and archives, data security, business and utilization models, visual perception and physiological aspects, etc.
The cineCongress reflects what is currently on the mind of the film industry; what strategies lend themselves to an active design of film and television; which techniques will prevail, which formats have to be operated; does 4K keep its promises; how do you reach the target audience, small screen or big screen - what awaits the young generation of Millennials in the future? Just some of the exciting questions that can best be answered by encounter, information, exchange, and discussion.
Although the official results of the German Federal Film Board FFA for the past year are still pending, indications are that 2015 was a record year for the film industry, the International Union of Cinemas (UNIC) sees record increases in European cinema-going in 2015. Analysts at Roland Berger Strategy Consulting have calculated that with production, distribution, and exploitation of films the film industry in Germany achieves a turnover amounting to four times of that of the music industry.
The importance of this industry is reflected not least by the cinecAwards. The award ceremony for outstanding technical innovations is hosted by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs and Media, Energy, and Technology in the most stunning room of the Munich Residence, the Imperial Hall.
