Netflix has unveiled the main trailer for its upcoming medical drama, Resident Playbook, building excitement for the series' debut on April 12. A spinoff of the globally beloved Hospital Playlist, the series follows the vibrant and unpredictable lives of first-year OB/GYN residents as they navigate their challenging yet heartfelt journeys to become skilled medical professionals.
The ensemble cast features rising stars Go Youn-jung as Oh Yi-young, Shin Si-a as Pyo Nam-kyung, Kang You-seok as Um Jae-il, Han Ye-ji as Kim Sa-bi, and Jung Joon-won as Ku Do-won. These actors bring youthful energy to their roles, portraying young residents whose growth is shaped by daily triumphs, mishaps, and heartfelt interactions at Jongno Yulje Medical Center.
The trailer highlights both the comedic and heartfelt moments awaiting viewers - capturing the delightful chaos typical of young residents, showing characters rushing out mid-meal for urgent calls, enduring scoldings from senior doctors, and awkwardly hiding from supervisors. Each character's distinct personality shines through, promising a relatable and engaging viewing experience.
Since the teaser was released, anticipation among fans has surged, with viewers buzzing on social media. Comments like I've been waiting eagerly for this show, Thrilled to see Yulje hospital again, and Totally relatable and entertaining underscore strong audience excitement.
The production team behind Resident Playbook share, "Our drama portrays the universal experiences of young professionals who lack knowledge, skill, and confidence but grow through perseverance and support. We believe audiences, especially those navigating their own early careers, will deeply resonate with our characters' journeys."
Helmed by creator Shin Won-ho and writer Kim Song-hee, the drama aims to blend comedic charm with poignant moments, building on the beloved legacy of Hospital Playlist. The dynamic interactions between seasoned mentors and earnest newcomers promise heartwarming episodes filled with humor, empathy, and authentic growth.
Resident Playbook premieres April 12, only on Netflix.
