Warner Bros. Studio Facilities Promotes Kim Waugh to Executive Vice President, Worldwide Post Production Services, and Hires Duke Lim as Vice President, Post Production Sound February 28, 2019
Burbank, CA - Warner Bros. Studio Facilities has promoted Kim Waugh to Executive Vice President, Worldwide Post Production Services, and hired Duke Lim to serve as Vice President, Post Production Sound at the studio. The announcement was made today by Jon Gilbert, President, Worldwide Studio Facilities, Warner Bros.
In his new role, Waugh will be reporting to Gilbert and will continue to lead the post-production creative services senior management team, overseeing all marketing, sales, talent management, facilities and technical operations across all locations. Waugh has been instrumental in expanding the business beyond the studio's Burbank-based headquarters, first to Soho, London in 2012 with the acquisition of Warner Bros. De Lane Lea and then to New York in the 2015 acquisition of WB Sound in Manhattan. With top talent and state-of-the-art equipment at each facility, the group supports all creative post-production elements, ranging from sound mixing, editing and ADR to color correction and restoration, for Warner Bros.' clients worldwide. Waugh's creative services group features a vast array of award-winning artists, including the Oscar-nominated sound mixing team behind Warner Bros. Pictures' A Star is Born.
Additionally, Duke Lim has been hired to serve as Vice President, Post Production Sound, Warner Bros. Studio Facilities. Reporting to Waugh, Lim is responsible for overseeing the post-production sound creative services supporting Warner Bros.' film and television clients on a day-to-day basis across the studio's three facilities.
Under Kim's leadership, Warner Bros. Post Production Services has grown to become the industry's leading post production supplier, not only in our core features and television businesses, but expanding our services to interactive gaming, music and color finishing, said Gilbert. At all three of our locations, Kim has attracted award-winning creative talent who are sought out for Warner Bros. and third-party projects alike. Bringing in seasoned post executive Duke Lim will create an even stronger senior management team under Kim.
Waugh most recently served as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Post Production Services, Warner Bros. Studio Facilities, a post he had held since 2007. In this position, he managed the post production services senior management team, overseeing all talent, sales, facilities and operations on a day-to-day basis, with a primary focus on servicing all Warner Bros. Studios' post production sound clients. Prior to joining Warner Bros. as Vice President, Post Production Services in 2004, Waugh worked at Ascent Media Creative Sound Services, where he served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, managing sales and marketing for the company's worldwide divisional facilities. Prior to that, he spent more than 10 years at Soundelux, holding posts as president of Soundelux Vine Street Studios and Signet Soundelux Studios.
Lim has worked in the post production industry for more than 25 years, most recently posted at the Sony Sound Department, which he joined in 2014 to help expand the creative team and total number of mix stages. He began his career at Skywalker Sound South serving in various positions until their acquisition by Todd-AO in 1995, when Lim was given the opportunity to move into operations and began managing the mixing facilities for both its Hollywood location and the Todd-AO West studio in Santa Monica.
About Warner Bros. Studio Facilities
As one of the foremost motion picture, television and post-production operation in the world, Warner Bros. Studio Facilities (WBSF) is home to filmmakers globally with facilities in Burbank, New York, and the UK. The 110-acre Burbank lot and nearby 32-acre Ranch facility collectively encompass 36 sound stages, 14 exterior sets, 17 re-recording stages, six ADR stages, and a complete range of production-related rental and service departments. In 2012, WBSF opened Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden (WBSL), a 200-acre lot outside London that features 14 sound stages and support facilities for Warner Bros. and third-party productions. Warner Bros. De Lane Lea, located in the Soho area of London, was also acquired in late 2012 and is the leading sound mixing and post-production facility in the UK. Complementing its sound and picture services in Burbank and the UK is WBSF's recent acquisition of a post-production facility in midtown Manhattan, where WB Sound New York provides sound design, supervision, editorial, re-recording, and ADR services with sound editorial design suites and picture editorial suites, plus New York's largest re-recording stage. From costume and props to set lighting and post-production sound and picture services, WBSF provides the necessary resources that enable any client's vision to become a reality. Additionally, WBSF invites visitors to go behind-the-scenes by taking its two tours: Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood explores the inner workings of the main Burbank lot, while WBSL is home to the hugely popular Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter.
