Passion, Community Engagement: How CBC's Jheri Hardaway Found a Path to Serve Through the United Way

Capitol Broadcasting Company holds supporting the community as a high priority and loves that we have employees who are making that company vision a personal mission as well. FOX 50 Strategic Accounts Manager Jheri Hardaway found a way to parlay her passion into making a difference for some students in the Triangle.

She recently sat down with staff from the United Way of the Greater Triangle to share how she found an impactful volunteer opportunity thanks to UWGT and CBC.

It's such a powerful story (that involves so many incredible people and organizations) we're so excited to amplify it, said UWGT Manager of Volunteers & Community Engagement Hannah Parker. Jheri is a gem.

In the fall of 2022, Hardaway accepted an invitation from a CBC colleague to attend an information session for employees during the annual United Way Campaign. She heard from representatives for several nonprofits, and immediately clicked with learning about The Daniel Center for Science and Math in Raleigh.

A former classroom teacher, Hardaway saw a way to use her passion for education and her desire to help others.

Parker chose to feature Hardaway in the UWGT's Volunteer Spotlight because Jheri believes there's a cause for everyone, and together we can make a real difference in our community.

Taking a few minutes out of her day to learn about the United Way partner agencies at work led Hardaway to become a changemaker for kids in our community.

The Greater Triangle United Way is doing amazing things so is Capitol Broadcasting Company, said Hardaway.
