THAILAND THE LATEST STOP FOR HBS - 12/11/2012 The final Other FIFA Event (OFE) on the 2012 calendar is in full swing, with the 52-match FIFA Futsal World Cup Thailand 2012 having kicked off on 1 November.

HBS is once again well represented on site, with a total of ten staff members involved in a team effort to provide coverage of the event. ADAMAS were appointed as Host Broadcaster by FIFA, with the mandate to produce the World Feed, and the company have recruited an international roster of partners to collaborate on this project.

HBS, who are responsible for providingcoordination and production services as well as all booking services during OFEs, are alsoin charge of the quality of the World Feed production.

As always, HBS aims to leave a legacy behind in Thailand as well as completing their regular mission. Quality Control Producer Jean-Marc Stabler, Match Director at the last three Futsal EURO events and the last six UEFA Futsal Cup Final Four events, oversaw a Director Workshop ahead of the event's commencement in order to ensure consistency across all matches, as well as in comparison to the 2008 edition, and a maintenance of the requisite standards expected by MRLs.

As part of the Director Workshop, eight short videos were produced by HBS to highlight the expected standard of coverage, the importance of consistency, the use of various cameras, editorial style and the use of replays, among other topics. A general presentation explained the coverage guidelines and provided an overview of the broadcast procedures which will allow those in attendance to take an enhanced professional experience from their participation in the event.

Furthermore, the directors and their teams were invited to work on a warm-up match contested between players from a local university team. The warm-up match has been an integral part of HBS' FIFA World Cup preparation since 2002.

Stabler's QC Producer role is particularly vital in this unique event where the clock on matches is paused for injuries and other stoppages in play. Consequently, the adherence to strict timing is crucial in order to avoid exceeding run time. With a long history of collaboration with Project Manager Olivier Meaux Saint Marc, covering OFEs such as the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cups in 2008 & 2011, Stabler is a tried and trusted expert able to react quickly to the constantly evolving timing issues and subsequently guide directors through each broadcast.

ADAMAS has constructed a truly professional team for this event, explained Meaux SaintMarc. Everything is running well, the LOC have put an adequate infrastructure in place at the IBCC and the three stadiums and the broadcast facilities are up to FIFA World Cup standards. There are obvious cultural barriers in having such a multinational unit, but the key factor which is shining through and ensuring the expected level of quality is the team spirit amongst all crew members.

Furthermore, for the first time at any major futsal competition, HBS has included in the camera plan for all three venues a remote camera located on the stadium roof. This has allowed the match directors to offer interesting top shots live during the games, plus very eye-catching replay angles for match analysis. Further enhancement of the camera plan is planned for the Semi-Finals, Third Place Play-Off & Final.

The event reaches its conclusion on 18 November and will finish off an exciting year of OFE events for HBS, with the FIFA U-20 Womens World Cup Japan 2012 in August followed closely by the FIFA U-17 Womens World Cup Azerbaijan 2012, which began in September.
