Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the north-eastern parts of the Northern Cape, as well as the western parts of the North-West and Free State Provinces.

Special weather advisories

A heatwave with persistently high temperatures is expected over the Free State, North-West and in places in the north and north-eastern parts of the Northern Cape until Thursday.

Extremely hot conditions are expected in places over the north-eastern parts of the Northern Cape tomorrow (Sunday).

Weather forecast and UV index for all provinces Gauteng: Cloudy in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm.

UVB sunburn index: Extreme.

Mpumalanga: Cloudy in the east with morning fog patches and drizzle along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated thunderstorms except the Lowveld but scattered on the eastern Highveld. It will be hot in the Lowveld.

Limpopo: Cloudy in the Lowveld, otherwise fine and warm to hot becoming partly cloudy with isolated thunderstorms except the Lowveld. It will be very hot in places over the western Bushveld.

North-West Province: Fine and hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated thundershowers over the eastern parts.

Free State: Fine and hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated thundershowers over the north-eastern and extreme southern parts

Northern Cape: Fine and very hot, becoming partly cloudy in the extreme south-east. Cloudy and warm along the coast where there will be morning fog patches, otherwise fine and hot. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-easterly becoming fresh southerly to south-westerly.

Western Cape: Cloudy at first along the coastal areas where it will become partly cloudy and warm, otherwise fine and hot, but very hot over the north-eastern interior. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-easterly along the south and south-west coast, otherwise moderate to fresh south-westerly spreading along the south coast in the afternoon.

UVB index: Extreme.

Western half of the Eastern Cape: Fine and hot, but very hot over the interior, but cloudy along the coast in the morning and evening. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly becoming moderate south-westerly in the afternoon.

Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon thunderstorms northeast of Queenstown. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.

KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise cloudy and warm with isolated showers and rain but thundershowers in the west. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly.

UVB index: Low.
