First Music Expo Miami goes down a storm
Place / Event > Seminar, Trade Show
Closing masterclass Mixing in the Box with Gary Noble.Last weekend's Music Expo Miami saw a great variety of music production talent and packed seminars at SAE Institute, North Beach. Highlights of the event included hugely popular masterclass Mixing in the Box' with Gary Noble (Amy Winehouse, Faith Evans), a very well-attended DJ workshop and jam run by Tiffany Miranda and some of the young women from Girls Make Beats - Mirandas non-profit that empowers girls to produce, engineer and DJ.
Ableton aficionado Wyatt Meagher also impressed with his busy Ableton Live and Push presentation, then James Joubran and Guillermo surprised attendees of their What Producers Do session by inviting the artist Alvaro Alcocer whose track was used for the workshop. Alvaro was able to share his perspective on the process of transforming his demo to a finished track.
Rene Katz, Loic Maestracci (founder of Music Expo), Grammy Award nominee Jay-J, Richard Rappaport , Tiffany Miranda (founder of Girls Make Beats), Christine Miranda. On top of that, Grammy-nominated producer Jay-J shared his production tips, and strategies for critical listening. And various other pro audio manufacturers showed off their latest and greatest products including iZotope who ran a session on mixing with Neutron and Unity Audio who showed off their high-end monitors. Yamaha also presented the MX88 weighted-action keyboard amd Reface vintage-inspired miniature keyboards. In addition, Joe Cozzi from Eventide gave a fascinating presentation on the history of the company - from the Instant Phaser and Ultra-Harmonizer right up to their Tony Visconti collaboration Tverb, the H9 MAX guitar effects processor and their brand new Fission plug-in technology.
If you weren't able to attend, fear not as Music Expo is coming to Boston June 10th and San Francisco November 11th.
