Kwa-Zulu Natal royal houses threaten to shut down the production of season 2The first season of the successful epic drama Shaka iLembe may have been a huge hit with Mzansi with its record-breaking viewership numbers but not everyone is celebrating the season two renewal of the show.

The production house behind Shaka iLembe, Bomb Productions, has been threatened by the Zulu Royal house of Dingiswayo amongst other families over the telling of the story of the history of the royal house in the first season of the show.

The Royal House of Dingiswayo is not the only royal dynasty to challenge the production of the second season. The other Royal Houses that are the production company over alleged misrepresentation of their heritage are the houses of Nxumalo, Mthethwa, Nxumalo and Mnguni and most notably Zulu which the show is centered around.

Who is saying no to the production of season 2? The story was reported by entertainment and general news website Isolezwe News that the families of the mentioned royal houses were furious that there was no consultation from the production house before production started on the first season.

The news was shared by respected entertainment commentator Phil Mphela to his followers. The avid fans of the show responded with backlash against the threat of cancelation of the much anticipated second season of the show.

The past challenges faced by production on Shaka iLembe The production has faced challenges since the start of the shooting of the first season. This is not the first time that the history told on the show has been challenged. The show does however have a disclaimer that the events that are told on the show are a work of fiction based on real events. This however has not stopped families going forward and challenging the portrayal of the various families and tribes on the show.

Comment from Bomb Productions? There has not yet been any comment from Bomb Productions or Nomzamo Mbhata who was not only one of the main stars of the show having played Queen Nandi but she is also one of the key producers of the show.
