REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR SCTE IP CHALLENGE 2014; ENTRY BY MAY 23 OFFERS CHANCE TO WIN iPAD AIR

MAY 6, 2014 (Exton, PA) Hold onto your routing configurations! The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) is now accepting registrations for the fourth annual SCTE IP Challenge.

Sponsored by Cisco Systems, the competition is the ultimate test of Internet Protocol (IP) knowledge for cable telecommunications professionals. SCTE will host two virtual qualifying rounds June 1-7 and July 13-19 featuring questions in six IP-related categories: Routing, Network Theory, CMTS DOCSIS , Internet Protocol, Configuration, and Multimedia over IP.

Information and registration for this year's SCTE IP Challenge is at http://www.scte.org/ip. Individuals who register by Friday, May 23 for the virtual qualifying rounds will be eligible to win an iPad Air .*

The top eight scorers who are SCTE members and work for a cable MSO will be eligible to move on to the live semifinals and finals at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in the fall to compete against one another and the 2013 SCTE IP Challenge winner, Kenneth Corbett of Charter Communications. Featuring a fast-paced, "Jeopardy"-style question format, the semifinals and finals will take place before a live audience at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2014 in Denver on Monday, Sept. 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

"A firm grounding in Internet Protocol technologies is becoming increasingly important to grow a career in cable telecommunications," said Tim Carnes, director, systems engineering, Cisco "The SCTE IP Challenge provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of IP to our industry and to recognize those engineering and operations professionals who clearly have become subject matter experts."

"Over the past several years, we've seen increasing demand for educational resources related to IP training and certification," said Steve Harris, senior director, advanced network technologies for SCTE and creator of the SCTE IP Challenge. "We're grateful to Cisco for recognizing the need to drive increased awareness of the value of IP expertise and for their ongoing support for the IP Challenge competition."

The eight 2014 semifinalists will receive complimentary registrations to SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2014, scheduled for Monday through Thursday, Sept. 22-25 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. The IP Challenge winner will receive one full-conference pass to Cisco Live and one full-conference pass to SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2015, at which he or she will defend the IP Challenge title.
