NTN4 Expands Use of LiveU Video-Over-Cell Units

Nuestra Tele Noticias (NTN24), an international Spanish-speaking 24-hour news network, has expanded its use of LiveU technology to nine international bureaus in Latin America, the United States, and Europe. The expansion follows NTN24's successful deployment of LiveU LU70 units in select bureaus in 2011. LiveU (liveu.tv) is the pioneer of portable live video-over-cellular solutions, holds the patent for video uplink over bonded cellular connections, and is represented by distributors in over 70 countries.

The new two-year deal includes a combination of local units outfitted with country-specific data plans for each of the nine countries deployed, as well as LiveU's roaming units that can be operated on short-notice in dozens of additional countries around the world.

The LiveU roaming units allow NTN24 reporters and camera operators to fly while carrying a LiveU unit to a country where a breaking news story is developing, and start transmitting immediately upon arrival without the complexities of obtaining costly and scarce uplink services on the ground.

According to LiveU, the company's flagship LU70 product is the industry's first bonded 3G/4G LTE backpack with proprietary RF technology for superior resiliency, up to 1080 HD video and sub-second latency for a satellite-like experience.
