Artist Profile - Sara Collaton, Photographer

Sara Collaton, talented Canadian photographer, model and media talent is a keen user of the Rotolight Interview Kit. Based in Toronto, the creative hub of Canada, Sara uses her Rotolight Kit on a regular basis, for general portraiture and creative shots.

Recently interviewed in ECR Magazine she mentioned her love for the Rotolight Interview Kit

ECR: What is that one piece of your kit that you absolutely could not do without, and what makes it stand out for you?

Sara: I have a new love for lighting. Having shot candid photography for years made me quite comfortable working with whatever lights were supplied usually natural. A few months ago I purchased the Rotolight Interview Kit and have thoroughly enjoyed incorporating their lights into my photography. They can create the perfect catch light while also allowing me to be more creative with their gels.

I've spent most of my photography career outside of a studio. I divide my time shooting live music, my home town Toronto and every other city I travel to without additional lights. I left my comfort zone and embraced using artificial lights with Rotolight's RL48 Interview Kit.

There's barely any weight to the product and because of this I can pack them with all my lenses very easily once I'm ready to head out. Their running LED lights allow for quick shooting vs flashes that require time to refresh between quick bursts.

The kit comes equipped with filters to correct white balance and colored gels that can change the mood of any scene. Their stands allow me to mount one on top of my camera, while I direct any needed fill light by holding the other in hand. I can't believe it's taken this long to use artificial lighting in my photography work. I've welcomed artificial lighting into my photography work now using these Rotolights and I'll never look back.
