The Belonging Co., a Nashville-based church renowned for its dynamic worship experiences and multimedia-rich conferences, tapped DigitalGlue's creative.space to manage its high-volume, high-quality media assets for its much-anticipated annual Belonging Co. Conference (2024 TBCo). With the help of creative.space, a transformative and user-friendly storage solution, The Belonging Co. centralized its storage, simplified data transfers, and removed bottlenecks, creating an efficient workflow that saved significant time and reduced stress.
The Belonging Co.'s annual conference is a highlight for churchgoers, drawing 4600 attendees and a global online audience. The expansive production utilizes 30 cameras, including 20 RED Digital Cinema units, to capture main sessions, breakouts, and live performances. Managing terabytes of high-resolution footage requires not only advanced equipment but an equally powerful storage solution that can keep up with high data loads and demanding timelines.
Last year we spent nearly a month transferring and managing footage, recalled Daniel Bender, the church's Film and Broadcast Director. Our previous storage solution simply couldn't handle the workload. The lack of fast, reliable storage created a stressful bottleneck with footage unable to be accessed for real-time editing. I knew we needed a drastic storage upgrade that also offered real-time support during the event.
Following a thorough evaluation of competitive systems, The Belonging Co. chose creative.space for its unique ability to integrate enterprise-grade storage with an intuitive, user-friendly interface. The platform's scalability and real-time collaboration tools enabled the team to streamline every aspect of their media workflow, ensuring rapid access to high-resolution media while minimizing technical overhead.
Cost also factored into the choice to go with creative.space since storage can be expanded as needed, unencumbered by hefty initial investments. What set creative.space apart, however, wasn't just the technology and cost, but also the proactive and personalized support provided by the DigitalGlue team.
We looked at other solutions, but creative.space was unparalleled in simplicity and scalability, said Loren Cavener, IT Manager at The Belonging Co. They understood our unique needs and worked closely with us to ensure everything ran flawlessly it's as if it was tailor-made for us. We now have a cohesive, structured setup, free from the chaotic cloud and NAS systems of the past, that empowers us to deliver incredible content without the stress of technical obstacles.
To meet the demands of the 2024 TBCo Conference, the creative.space team deployed its 300TB //DEUS EX server, designed to simplify complex workflows for video teams. This powerful system eliminated the need for portable drives, managing hundreds of terabytes of footage effortlessly. With its intuitive interface, even non-technical volunteers were able to collaborate seamlessly in DaVinci Resolve. After the event, real-time remote editing kept the creative process flowing without interruptions, even while on a flight using wifi 30,000 ft in the air.
The transformation was immediate: faster turnarounds, greater collaboration, and reduced stress across the team. The experience led to a total refresh of The Belonging Co.'s entire media management approach by integrating creative.space as a permanent fixture in The Belonging Co.'s workflow, ensuring the team can deliver high-quality content with confidence and ease.
"The transition to creative.space was a game-changer," said Bender. "We went from weeks of manual file transfers to focusing purely on creative storytelling. For the first time, our volunteers managed the entire Digital Imaging Technician process seamlessly, which was previously unimaginable."
With creative.space, The Belonging Co. unlocked the freedom to focus on its mission creating meaningful moments of connection through worship and storytelling. creative.space truly saved us, reflected Bender. It let us focus on our message on creating moments of genuine connection. The combination of creative.space's powerful storage, seamless integration, and outstanding support turned what was once a logistical nightmare into a manageable, even enjoyable process. We're finally able to serve our audience the way we've always envisioned.
