Euro Media Group (EMG) selects Axon as a technological partner in its migration to IPThrough 2018, EMG plans to launch several mobile units, as well as the renewal of its remote production center based on IP technology-based Axon solutions.

At the beginning of 2017, EMG launched a program called OBjective 2020to design a new concept for future solutions media production. Ronald Meyvisch, CTO of Euro Media Group, recognizes that "we wanted to achieve a triple A to produce content anywhere, anyhow, any size. Our aim was to cover both the production in situ and remote production and be able to do anything between a small production of HD and the greatest show in Ultra high definition that you can imagine."
To achieve this, the concept had to be modular and scalable and therefore, IP-based. Following an approach to data center, applications can be deployed flexibly, according to needs, in a platform based on FPGA connected through a network. In this network, the quality of the service, bandwidth control and total control of routing are guaranteed.
"Axon, find the partner that could provide us with the control system to the last and your control solution future-proof and monitoring Cerebrum of Axon as well as a platform of audio processing / video based on very powerful IP that will bring the power of" processing and gateways necessary to support this infrastructure of distributed media that we had in mind,"says Meyvisch.
As the system can be used both in mobile units in fixed installations and flight packs the first solutions that are built according to the philosophy of OBjective 2020 they will be operational at the beginning of 2018 at UHD. Throughout the year, EMG plans to launch several mobile units, as well as the renewal of the Italian sports media remote production center of 3Zero2, all based on the same technology and concept.
Harmonize technology
As he says Patrick van den Berg, Chief Financial Officer of EMG, "thanks to the IP, now we can harmonize the core technology used in EMG for media production, allowing us to share hardware and exchange of professionals between our different entities with the purpose of to increase our operational efficiency. This is of strategic importance for our group in order to stay ahead of the competition and meet the demand of the market of flexible, cost-effective solutions".
Jan Eveleens, CEO of Axon, concludes that "we are delighted to be working closely with EMG as a technological partner in the coming years as it revolutionizes media production and leads the successful deployment of the IP infrastructure in the" live broadcast.
