Five romantic comedies to stream in May

Netflix has expanded it's rom-com offering with these films to join some of the most watched romantic comedies on the streaming giant. Are you ready for a weekend of binging?

Far from being your typical boy meets girl kind of movies, these new additions go a bit deeper. They tell diverse stories of true friendship, unconventional romance, women empowerment and self love.

The Perfect Date

The first welcome addition to the slate, which landed early in April, is The Perfect Date. It follows the story of Brooks Rattigan who decide to make extra money on the side by being the perfect boyfriend.'

Together with his programmer friend Murph, Brooks launches an app selling himself as a plus-one for all occasions. Along the way, he meets the girl of his dreams. He faces a dilemma when his business starts to boom.

Netflix also bring us Someone Great, the ultimate romantic comedy. It takes us on a journey as aspiring music journalist Jenny moves to San Francisco and lands her dream job at an iconic magazine.

Instead of giving a long-distance relationship a try, her boyfriends calls it quits. In an attempt to get over him, Jenny decides to have one last girl's night out on the town with her friends before the leaves for San Francisco.

The Last Summer

Then there's The Last Summer, a rom-com that will take you on a journey of love. It follows a group of recent high school graduates as they navigate their way through their final summer before taking off for college.

The students wrestle with lost love and heartbreak, form friendships in unexpected circumstances, and take greater control in their relationships with their parents.

They ultimately decide who they will be and what they will do as they stand on the precipice of adulthood. One of those feel-good movies that will keep you starry-eyed for days after watching it.
