The second annual TVBEurope 2020 event is almost upon us.
The conference returns to Bafta London on 28 June, with masterclasses, discussions and analysis of the converging UHD and IT/IP ecosystems.
The one-day summit will offer detailed insight and analysis from some of the media and entertainment industry's foremost authorities.
Jon Ive, conference chairman and director of technology and strategic insight, IABM, will kick off proceedings with an overview The state of the market: facts and figures'.
Ive will be quickly followed by Tom Toumazis, MBE, TVbeat, Tagsmart and theLADbible Group, who will open the discussion on The future of broadcasting'.
He will present the first keynote of the day, Do we need broadcasters in an internet enabled future?' investigating the role of broadcast in the changing face of video creation, distribution and consumption, whilst contemplating how traditional broadcasters can carve a new niche for themselves in an increasingly agile and services based economy.
Toumazis will then be joined by Richard Halton, YouView; Justin Dewhirt, Bloomberg; and Keith Underwood, Channel 4, on the first keynote panel of this year's conference: Who are the content stakeholders in an all IP world?'
Following a short coffee break, attendees will have the option of taking part in two interactive masterclasses addressing the challenges of working with the cloud, the first of which will be moderated by Jeremy Bancroft, Media Asset Capital. The second will be led by Veset, with both CEO Igor Krol and CTO Gatis Gailis appearing as speakers.
Alternatively, a mini presentation and panel discussion, Setting the standards for the industry's future' will contemplate the value of new collaboration initiatives in fostering the adoption of new standards for new technologies for IPTV. Speakers include Andy Warman, AIMS; Jean-Baptiste Lorent, TICO Alliance; Peter Brightwell, BBC R&D and chair of AMWA Networked Media Incubator; and Adi Kouadio, EBU.
A further seven sessions await attendees after lunch, with an interactive panel discussion: Broadcasting in the software-defined age' running parallel with a Demystifying HDR' interactive masterclass led by Adi Kouadio, EBU.
Andy Beale, BT Sport, will be running a presentation: Does UHD provide the complete picture?' investigating the opportunity of 4K UHD and the challenges of implementation.
Following the second coffee break of the day, a panel discussion: How market conditions are shaping long term business strategy' will address the issues regarding futureproofing businesses, contemplated by speakers Martyn Whistler, Ernst & Young; Russell Grute, Broadcast Innovations; Simon Frost, Ericsson; Neil Maycock, SAM; and Niall Duffy, Sony Europe.
The penultimate session of TVBEurope 2020 will see NEO Worldwide provide a detailed insight into its successful launch of the first fully IP-based multi-camera broadcast, presented by Netherlands CTO Peter Bruggink.
Russell Grute is moderating the final panel of the day: Does new media technology deliver an acceptable ROI to broadcasts?' The session will focus on the potential return on investment from crucial new technologies such as web services, cloud, UHD, IP and MAM.
Attendees will be welcomed to a drinks reception and networking opportunity from 5pm before the conference draws to a close for another year at 6.30pm.
