A new season of much-loved reality TV entertainment competition Big Brother Mzansi (BBM) is set to premiere next year on Sunday, 21 January, on Mzansi Magic, Channel 161.

While some things will remain the same in the fourth season, like the return of charismatic host Lawrence Maleka, the show guarantees some twists and changes. This includes the exclusion of the popular shower hour segment.

WHY BIG BROTHER MZANSI' IS DOING AWAY WITH SHOWER HOUR Speaking at the recent Big Brother Mzansi media launch, MultiChoice's director of Local Entertainment Channels, Shirley Adonisi, saud that they've decided to scrap shower hour.

Our audiences know certain things but don't necessarily want to see. And because a lot of families watch this, and we all know that families could be ugogo (grandmother), the mother, and the kids, kids do not necessarily go to bed at 7 or 8 pm. It can get a little awkward in the house.
So as much as they knew that people would be showering on camera, they really didn't have the want to see how they shower.

Adonisi said they made the decision after the negative feedback they received from their audience on social media.
We got a lot of negative feedback around that to say we understand that it's a 24-hour show, but this part we do not want to see.
Some people also interpreted it as a little bit disrespectful to the housemates even though housemates are briefed in terms of what exactly will go out to the public. So, we had to respect that, and for the show's success, we don't need shower hour, so there will be no shower hour, but our housemates will shower.

S'YA MOSHA! The tagline for next year's Big Brother Mzansi is S'ya Mosha which means to cause havoc or disrupt.
Big Brother S'ya Mosha is a disruption of the norm. It means setting a new bar, being the most memorable season for disrupting and breaking away from what is expected, said Adonisi.
Uku'mosha for us is very positive, it's fun, it's unpredictable and it allows you to actually be in a space where you can play. Uku'mosha doesn't define if you do it a little bit or a lot, oksalayo uya mosha, explained Adonisi.

Big Brother Mzansi executive producer Natalie Bleksley of Red Pepper Productions said that they will be making the show's format bigger and better.
The format is also being enhanced by adding new game mechanics nothing is predictable, and Biggie is here to shake things up, building on the elements that viewers love i.e Saturday Night Parties, Friday Night Games.
