Ericsson is done with the business of Abentel, subsidiary Abengoa specializing in fiber Both companies sign an agreement of transfer of activities (ATA), under which is transferred them active, projects and employees of Abentel. About 500 experts in fiber services employees will join Ericsson, which would create a global competence centre based in Seville.

Ericsson and Abentel, subsidiary of Abengoa, have signed an agreement of transfer of activities (ATA), low which is transferred them active, projects and employees of Abentel to Ericsson, improving thus their offer of services of fiber.

This agreement, sealed in the context of deep restructuring that crosses matrix Abengoa, will come to reinforce the position of Ericsson in telecommunications services, specifically in the deployment and maintenance of fiber networks, where it has major projects in different countries.

About 500 professionals specialized in services of deployment and maintenance of fiber networks joining Ericsson, providing relevant competencies to continue expansion in the growing field of fiber-related services.

The sum of them skills, tools and processes of both companies will allow to Ericsson create a Center global of services of fiber in Seville, from where can continue strengthening its presence in this dynamic market.

As part of the agreement, Ericsson will assume some of the most important projects of deployment of optical fiber in Spain.

Demand for optical fiber transmission is growing rapidly in response to growing needs for bandwidth, stimulated by new applications, especially in video services. Ericssons Mobility Report, the report 85% of the data traffic generated by video applications on mobile devices is done via Wi-Fi, mainly indoors.

Jos Antonio L pez, Managing Director of Ericsson Spain, assures that "fiber is a key component for new generation IP networks. This agreement brings together the worlds leading telecommunications services with one of the providers of leading fiber in Spain. The transfer of the powers of Abentel, together with the offer of services of Ericsson, will allow us to offer unparalleled scalability for our customers fiber projects".
