American Tobacco Launches New Online Look

The new American Tobacco website is now online, with even more information about Durhams downtown destination.

This summer American Tobacco introduced a new and improved set of concert series and now they've launched a brand new website.

The staff at ATC had been working on updating the site for some time. They ended up creating their own team to create the site: Richard Lowe and his team at Topsail Technologies, an ATC tenant, developed the technology behind the site. ATC partnered them with Emmy Award winning producer, Hal Goodtree, of Goodtree & Company and the Cary Citizen.

We felt this gave us a strong technical and artistic team, said ATC PR/Events Manager Valerie Ward, a team that would be able to tell the visual story of American Tobacco that would put us on the map as an event and tourist destination.

Site development took about six months. The team spent a lot of time reviewing other historic and business sites throughout the world. Ironically, they found the ATC model in art museum websites.

Key website features include:

Hip Urban look and feel

More news and photos

More videos and event slide shows

Themed YouTube and Flickr sites

District wide events section to include ATC, Bulls and DPAC

Save an event or an event series to your calendar

Social media buttons push events via face book, email, etc. to friends and family

Parking, Restaurant and District information

Desktop publishing - Pre-scheduling and deleting of events and news, updatable tenant data base, easy storage of photos, videos, etc.

Analytics will be reviewed monthly to help refine the site based on user use

We are currently working on a video featuring Michael Goodmon regarding the business decision to renovate the property, community impact, anecdotal stories and what's in store for the future, explained Ward. In 2014, you'll continue to see new photos, slideshows, videos. We plan to additional tabs for art and history, and develop a smart phone app. Our goal is to keep the website fresh and fun, yet quick to change based on the user demands.
