SBS Ones To Watch Grant

Screen Producers Australia is proud to confirm that SBS is supporting the Ones To Watch program for 2017 with a new $15,000 grant designed to help develop the next generation of screen professionals.

Ones To Watch is a unique initiative from Screen Producers Australia designed to assist emerging screen professionals accelerate their projects and development in partnership with some of Australia's leading producers.

This year SBS is amplifying its involvement in the Ones To Watch program with a new $15,000 grant designed to help support an emerging professional. Following a competitive pitch by chosen Ones To Watch participants, SBS will award the grant and a six month first look deal to the most appropriate producer to accelerate their development.

Marshall Heald, Director of TV and Online Content at SBS, said: SBS is proud to be supporting and nurturing emerging talent in the Australian industry. We are delighted to continue to work with Screen Producers Australia to offer this exciting opportunity designed to provide valuable support to the next generation of screen industry talent through the Ones To Watch initiative.

The winner of the SBS grant will be announced at the 17th annual Screen Producers Australia Awards on 16 November 2017 at Crown Palladium, Melbourne.

All Ones To Watch participants will have an opportunity to pitch an original production concept to SBS for broadcast on an SBS channel.

Previous One To Watch winners include Lisa Shaunessy whose series Hipsters was developed and screened on SBS 2 (now SBS VICELAND).

The Ones To Watch 2017 program is currently open for entries with submission deadline on 15 May. The Ones To Watch program is celebrating its fifth year and is open to emerging producers across all screen platforms; film, television and digital, who create innovative content.

Once selected the Ones To Watch program provides successful applicants with ongoing touchpoints to the industry and unparalleled career opportunities. These include access to exclusive pitching and professional development initiatives, and opportunities at the SCREEN FOREVER 2017 conference, 14-16 November in Melbourne.

Our Ones To Watch alumni, who have moved through the program since its inception five years ago are an impressive group of active producers and industry professionals, Screen Producers Australia CEO, Matthew Deaner said. We welcome SBS's support and look forward to working together to mentor, develop and showcase our industry talent, he added.
