Spanish broadcaster Mediapro has acquired virtual reality specialist Visyon for an undisclosed fee.
Visyon creates immersive technology solutions such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR). It has offices in Barcelona, Madrid, London and Dubai.
The two companies have previously worked together on a number of content solutions for major sports and entertainment clients, including the world's first live VR telecast of a football match for the Arabian Gulf League.
Currently, Mediapro and Visyon are developing new business models for the immersive broadcast of content, sports and entertainment, leading the evolution of the esports industry and exploring multiple use cases for the market potential that opens with the deployment of 5G connectivity, the companies said.
