The Taiwan local elections of 2014 commonly known as the nine-in-one elections, were held on Saturday, 29 November 2014, to elect the Municipal Mayors, Municipal Councilors, Chiefs of indigenous districts in municipalities, Councilors of indigenous districts in municipalities, County Magistrates (City Mayors), County (City) Councilors, Township Chiefs, Township Councilors and chiefs of village (borough) in 6 municipalities and 16 counties (cities). Elected officials will serve a four-year term.

Hundreds of Viz machines were running relentlessly during the election night and with our teams help, all the 9 major TV stations were using Vizrt products as a strategic weapon to raise their viewer ratings.

Viz Virtual Studio displayed live results and added immersive elements to news stories

Many of the broadcasters used a combination of immersive graphics and data-driven graphics in their studios. The immersive graphics polled live data and, using Viz Virtual Studio, showed projections and results immersed into the physical studio space. Viz Pilot took live data as well as graphics created by journalists in the newsroom using intelligent templates and displayed the graphics in real-time with live updates.

Vizrt's capabilities of reading data and visualizing that content in real-time provided Taiwans broadcasters a powerful set of tools leaving the Taiwanese audience informed throughout the night. The template-based solution allowed journalists to quickly edit content and provide a fast and safe solution for the broadcasters.

The data visualization capabilities of Vizrt systems such as Viz Virtual Studio, Viz Engine, Viz Pilot, Viz Trio, Viz Ticker were foremost in the efforts to clearly display the events of the evening as they developed. Each broadcaster was able to tell the story in their own unique way.

Videowalls were in heavy use by many of the broadcasters. One of the stars of the election night was the use of virtual graphics, both in terms of virtual sets, and augmented reality. Vizrt has seen this technology being used more and more recently and viewers saw plenty of examples on this night. Viz Virtual Studio, through it's integrations with data feeds, displayed election results live and showing every race in ways that are unique to each broadcaster.

It was an extraordinary evening and Vizrt was very excited to be a pivotal part of bringing the elections to Taiwan!
