Tour de France 2024 captivates Australians with almost 4 million viewers tuning in so far

More than 3.9 million Australians have tuned into the 2024 Tour de France to date, including more than 1.3 million Australians aged 25-54.
Last week, livestreaming on SBS On Demand peaked, with a year-to-date record average audience.
Tour de France Stage 2 has so far achieved the highest national Total TV reach of 944,000 viewers.
Last week, Total BVOD (Live + VOD) achieved the highest weekly consumption hours of 2024 at 3 million hours.
SBS Director of Sport, Ken Shipp said: Australian cycling fans have clearly been captivated by the action of the 2024 Tour de France and are enthusiastically tuning in to SBS for all the colour and excitement.
With nine stages now down and still 11 to go, it's shaping up to be a massive year for the TDF on the network, and we couldn't be happier with the audience reception.
This current generation of cyclists competing is the most interesting and colourful so far; more social media-savvy, more crowd-pleasing and more entertaining. There are fewer Aussies competing this year, but viewing is continuing to grow. The Tour de France is really coming into its own as a major annual viewing event for Australian sport fans to have on their calendar of must-watch events.
We're looking forward to showcasing more of the thrills on the road, wonderful local scenery and cuisine, and of course, the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.

SBS will provide extensive coverage of both the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift with the men's race until July 21, and the women's race from August 12 to August 18, post the Olympic Games.
As a side dish to the Tour de France, renowned French-Australian chef Guillaume Brahimi has returned with Plat du Tour. Travelling through Italy, San Marino, Monaco, and France following the Tour de France route Guillaume Brahimi explores and shares the incredible cuisines and culture of the regions. Plat du Tour is airing on SBS during the Tour de France coverage, featuring 21 inspirational recipes for the 21 Tour stages. Guillaume meets some of the passionate and talented food producers and creates his own delicious dishes correlating to the traditions and culture of each city and town. Guillaume will plate up his Plat du Tour' starting in Florence Italy getting viewers into the Tour spirit.
