HARRY POTTER SUPERVISING SOUND EDITOR AMONGST ENHANCED AUDIO SCHEDULE FOR BVE 05

An interview with the supervising sound editor on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, a case study on the hit BBC drama Sherlock and a discussion on recording sound in extreme conditions are among the seminar highlights for audio professionals at BVE 2015.

Taking place 24-26 February 2015 at Excel in London, BVE is the UKs biggest dedicated broadcast and production technology event, showcasing innovations and services for the production, management and distribution of audio-visual content.

Alison Willis, Event Director, said: With issues of loudness and dialogue clarity constantly on the industry radar and in the news, we have ensured that audio topics feature prominently right across our seminar programme. Audio professionals will also have the chance to play with the latest audio equipment from leading manufacturers including Audio Technica, Calrec Audio, Clear-Com, Glensound, Roland and Wohler.

Among many highlights of the seminar programme, James Mather, the Emmy-award winning and BAFTA nominated supervising sound editor will be chatting about his work on Cinderella, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Sherlock Holmes. The BBCs Sherlock also gets the BVE treatment as BAFTA Craft award winners Doug Sinclair, the owner and co-founder of Bang Post Production, and dubbing mixer Howard Bargroff explore the audio technology and techniques used on the hit drama. Pete Lee, sound recordist and engineer (Bear Grylls: Escape from Hell, Man vs. Wild), joins the panel considering The challenges and solutions of extreme shooting, while The Institute of Professional Sound (IPS) provides an essential guide to getting good sound on a budget.

Roland (Stand D16) presents the UK debut of its live sound digital mixing console, the M-5000

HHB Communications and Soho post-production specialists Scrub (Stand J43)will demo the Avid S6 and S3 control surfaces alongside Pro Tools with the latest plugins and loudness software from NUGEN Audio

The final specification launch versions of Glensounds new audio networking products featuring the DANTE network audio protocol will be available for evaluation (Stand N30)

A new version of Vidchecker, v6.2, will be on show that includes automated audio level correction to meet the EBU R128 loudness standard (Stand R16)

In addition, many audio-related trade bodies and associations, including the AMPS, BKSTS, IPS and the APRS, will be present at the show.
