Ohio Extends Medicaid Contract with HP to Help Prepare for Healthcare EvolutionHP helps state transform to more robust IT environment to support ongoing reformsPALO ALTO, Calif. - HP Enterprise Services today announced that the Ohio Department of Medicaid has signed a $180 million agreement for HP to continue to manage and enhance the Ohio Medicaid Information Technology System (MITS) and transform the hardware platform on which it runs.
Under the terms of the four-year agreement, which includes a pair of two-year options, HP will help ensure that MITS is a flexible, scalable and stable system. It will support federal policy changes, including the Affordable Care Act and state requirements, and has the potential for up to 600,000 additional Medicaid recipients forecast for the coming years.

HP will leverage its industry and technology expertise to continue enhancing MITS to ensure continued accurate claims payments while completing a full hardware refresh to help us prepare for the future.
HP will package the MITS hardware, monitoring and software as a service to provide agility and scale in facing future challenges.
HP also will provide applications development and management services to help improve the state's ability to handle growth in recipients and claims with accuracy, timeliness and uninterrupted service by adding integrated eligibility. HP also will deploy federally mandated International Classification of Diseases - 10th Revision (ICD-10) medical coding features as required by law.
The technology refresh includes replacing more than 450 servers with HP Integrity Superdome 2 Servers. It also includes the implementation of monitoring tools such as HP ArcSight and increased security with HP software, HP TippingPoint network security, and the HP Encryption SAN Switch.
Last year, MITS processed about 127 million provider claims and encounters worth more than $11 billion.
