BroadStream Solutions, the global broadcast solutions provider, today announces a new deeper integration of its RADAR media asset management (MAM) solution with OASYS Integrated Playout, the Companys flagship solution.
RADAR is the latest addition to BroadStreams premier suite of broadcast systems launched at IBC 2014, including CURRENT, HARBOR, ARMADA and the acquisition of OASYS in 2014.
RADAR is a MAM system that provides contribution, orchestration and distribution capabilities to enable easy tracking of all media and related files across the broadcast workflow in an end-to-end platform. RADAR is format agnostic so any and all files can be collected, organized, re-versioned, archived and moved to external platforms as a shared resource pool for the entire team. Users can create custom workflows to automate repetitive tasks with intelligent decision-making while escalation options improve operational efficiency. This means users can manage by exception and not get tied up performing unnecessary manual tasks thus saving both real time and money.
RADAR is designed for facilities that need to organize and track large media libraries and associated files. This includes independent stations, station groups, satellite program providers, cable operators, local off air broadcasters, media companies, and broadcast service providers.
RADAR includes a range of special features, including:
3rd party API: Workflow tools that are designed to work with a wide range of 3rd party APIs, to bring multiple, disparate processes together to operate as part of a fully managed system; RADARs robust API can receive content via Aspera, Signiant, SmartJog, FileCatalyst or a simple Watchfolder
Remote access: A web interface allows users to have remote access from anywhere in the world to monitor, control and edit an active playlist directly
Security: The entire system is built with security in mind, providing full user and group rights, as needed, for access to appropriate data and files
Online Video: RADAR manages and automates the necessary transcodes to ensure assets are prepared and match the requirements for playback on any designated online platform or channel, thus reducing manual intervention and preparatory work required of staff
Open platform: RADAR is HTML 5 compliant and entirely integrated with Microsoft s Active Directory/LDAP. In addition it works with Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure and any public or private cloud platform that is built using OpenStack technologies
OTT & VoD: Workflows can be configured for specific channels and associated VOD or OVP needs and triggered from and associated with the same schedule as broadcast workflows
Disaster recovery: RADAR provides multiple solutions for mirroring, back-up and disaster recovery, providing resilience and confidence that files are safe and secure
Metadata schema: File names are fully configurable with no specific need to use English field names and assets can be stored in a hierarchical structure to group them logically and allow the metadata to be edited and inherited rather than manually entered or copied multiple times.
Mark Errington, CEO of BroadStream Solutions, comments: RADAR is a highly sophisticated media asset management solution that provides broadcasters and other media facilities with a tool they can trust, and saves them time and money. This saving comes from the automation, file validation, transcoding and intuitive approach to file management and workflows that we spent a lot of time thinking through and building into this deeper integration.
Ben Wolk, President of Sales and Marketing at BroadStream, adds: RADAR is extremely user-friendly, users can create customised configurations and workflows for other users, channels and content types in a highly secure environment. This is thanks to RADARs multi-tenanted security approach, which allows users access to a specific portal without exposing other client files. This means that whether youre a single- or multi-channel broadcaster, a media company or a broadcast service provider, you use a single MAM system for all your needs.
RADAR will be showcased in the US for the first time at NAB 2015 in the Companys Booth N3118 in the North Hall. Following the acquisition of OASYS Automated Playout early last year, visitors to the BroadStream booth will also be able to see the OASYS integrated playout solution, which now forms part of the full suite of BroadStream playout solutions including CURRENT, HARBOR and ARMADA.
