PHABRIX releases the Qx at IBC 2015 - and more! With IBC just weeks away, PHABRIX is releasing its Qx UHDTV1 and UHDTV2 combined generator/ analyzer to the industry in Hall 10 B12. Developed using the very latest FPGA technology, PHABRIX once again provides a unique solution to the broadcast industry s latest trend - 4K and 8K.
The key differentiator of the Qx is its ability to provide generation and analysis tools on signals carrying up to 48Gbps payloads with both video and audio support.
Incorporating the World's first' real time multi frame rate 12G-SDI physical layer analysis (eye and jitter) tool-set with automatic SMPTE compliance measurements, it provides comprehensive testing for both UHDTV1 and UHDTV2 infrastructures.
Timing is important with multi-link SDI interfaces and the PHABRIX has incorporated a suite of tools operating across a wide range of standards.
The PHABRIX Qx is controlled using an intuitive user interface consisting of mouse, keyboard and 1920x1080 display.
Support for HDR (High Dynamic Range), WCG (Wide Colour Gamut), HFR (High Frame Rate) and the advanced object based audio formats will be provided as the standards develop.
The new PHABRIX Qx hardware platform also supports the next generation of both copper and fibre uncompressed SDI interfaces and importantly for those interested in IP, SMPTE ST 2022-6 over 10GbE for IP based infrastructures.
PHABRIX has also added features to its highly successful rack mount and hand held product ranges at IBC 2015. The combined video and audio test and measurement Rx range consists of the Rx2000, Rx1000 and Rx500. The Rx2000 comes complete with integrated TFT screens and incorporated high dynamic audio speakers. It has a free on board generator and as with the 1U Rx1000 and half rack Rx500, offers rasterizer output via HDMI or SDI at 1920 x 1080.
With the release of V9.03 as a free upgrade to existing customers and the addition of Loudness monitoring and Closed Caption 608/708 monitoring as standard, the value the instruments represent is hard to convey certainly a good reason to visit PHABRIX Hall 10 B12 to see them in action.
Paul Nicholls PHABRIX sales and marketing director commented: With V9.03, the Rx has certainly captured the attention of large broadcasters globally wanting a cost effective solution for QC. Having access to both video and audio toolsets which include Dolby E, D and D plus at a cost effective price makes it an easy decision to maintain quality on one complete solution. PHABRIX products have always been very easy understand due to the excellent user interface and support. The result is the Rx instruments make a real difference to the quality of transmission.'
PHABRIX have released a new frame grab feature for the Rx that is triggered from image faults and frames can be played back by the operator when investigating why a problem has been flagged. This feature in combination with the new alarm flashing feature allows operators to quickly replay the frame grab with its associated instruments to further check the error.
It's not only QC where the Rx has been successful. Many of the world's largest broadcast manufacturers have chosen the Rx due to their ability to monitor up to 4 simultaneous inputs. The Rx remains the only product available to display 4 separate eye and jitter windows if required and with remote control as standard on the Rx, scripts can be easily designed to activate each aspect of the toolset.
The PHABRIX Sx range has also received a brand new V14 release with additional format support and Dolby level generator. A new eye and jitter filter and histogram toolset has been added as part of the standard build of the PHABRIX SxE along with a separate jitter instrument. A very useful VANC/ANC grid display provides instant awareness of the ancillary signal present on the input has been added as a standard feature across the whole Sx range when purchased from new.
Finally the Sx TAG, PHABRIX's multi interface hand held provides analogue, SDI and optical support and now features EDID display for HDMI SFP's. This handy tool is priced as a must have' for engineers with additional support for SFP's as they become available. Increasingly the industry is finding SFP's in most equipment from large routers to simple switchers so the capability to test the SFP becomes increasingly important. Inserting SFP's in an out of the cage can sometimes cause problems however the TAG has a very unique ability to easily replace its on-board SFP cage when required and it can be done in the field. More innovation from PHABRIX.
