Schaeffler, ein weltweit f hrender Automobilzulieferer von Pr zisionsprodukten und -systemen f r Motor-, Getriebe- und Fahrwerksanwendungen, ist mit dem kraftstoffsparenden Drehmomentwandler mit Fliehkraftpendel (FKP) als Finalist f r den Automotive News PACE Award 2014 in der Kategorie Produkte nominiert worden.
Es ist eine gro e Ehre f r uns, dass Schaeffler erneut f r die Finalrunde des PACE Award ausgew hlt wurde. Dies ist die Best tigung f r unser gro es Engagement bei der Entwicklung innovativer Produkte und Technologien , so Jeff Hemphill, Leiter Technische Entwicklung von Schaeffler in den USA.
Der am Schaeffler-Standort LuK USA LLC in Wooster/Ohio entwickelte integrierte Drehmomentwandler (iTC) stellt einen v llig neuen Ansatz im System Drehmomentwandler/ Kupplung dar, bei dem die Kupplungsfunktion direkt in die Turbine des Drehmomentwandlers integriert ist. Das neue Design weist ein geringeres Gewicht und eine reduzierte Tr gheit auf, es minimiert den erforderlichen Bauraum und erm glicht den Einsatz zus tzlicher D mpfungskonzepte wie dem FKP. W hrend konventionelle Drehmomentwandler mit Fliehkraftpendel nur in Fahrzeugen mit Hinterradantrieb verwendet werden k nnen, eignet sich der iTC aufgrund der Integration des Fliehkraftpendels in den Drehmomentwandler f r den Einsatz in vorderradgetriebenen Fahrzeugen. Hier sorgt er f r eine Reduzierung von Kraftstoffverbrauch und CO2-Aussto bei gleichzeitig erh htem Fahrkomfort aufgrund geringerer Vibrationen.
In den vergangenen f nf Jahren wurde Schaeffler nun bereits zum vierten Mal f r die Finalrunde des PACE Award nominiert. Im Jahr 2012 gewann das Unternehmen die renommierte Auszeichnung f r sein vollvariables Ventilsteuerungssystem UniAir und wurde zus tzlich gemeinsam mit Fiat Powertrain und der Chrysler Gruppe mit dem Innovation Partnership Award ausgezeichnet.
Der j hrlich ausgelobte PACE Award (Premier Automotive Suppliers' Contribution to Excellence) honoriert Innovationen in der Automobilzulieferindustrie in den Bereichen Produkte , Fertigungsverfahren und Produktionsmittel und Informationstechnologie . Die Juroren, Experten aus Industrie, Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft, bewerten die Innovationen hinsichtlich Kriterien wie Originalit t und Marktakzeptanz. Die Gewinner des diesj hrigen Awards werden am Montag, dem 7. April 2014 im Max M. Fisher Music Center in Detroit bekanntgegeben.
