First two PhD students graduate from University of Nottingham Ningbo

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) held a grand graduation ceremony for 249 master graduates and its first batch of PhD graduates on the afternoon of November 16th.

Two PhD students have completed their doctorate degrees from the University of Nottingham Ningbo China. One is Zhou Tongyu from Ningbo's Xiangshan while the other is Nguyen Vu Hong Thai, an exceptional student from Vietnam.

Zhou Tongyu and Nguyen Vu Hong Thai are the first batch of PhD graduates who have finished their degrees in a Sino-foreign cooperative university in China. They have been awarded their doctorate degrees from the University of Nottingham.

Zhong Tongyu maintained excellent academic performance in his study at the University. In 2011, he, along with Prof. Jo Darkwa and Su Weiguang, two members from the Center for Sustainable Energy Technologies in UNNC, developed a new kind of energy-saving building material and won a national patent for it in September 2013.

Nguyen Vu Hong Thai graduated with his Bachelor's degree from the University of Nottingham in England. He spent less than three years completing his Doctoral degree in the UNNC, and a portion of his doctoral dissertation was published in the world's most authoritative periodical on international finance.
