Sweet Spot Content s Dreams bloom into an orchid

Sweet Spot Content's latest production for Draftfcb, Old Mutual Dreams', has received Brendan Seery's Orchid for the week of August 24.

The Saturday Star's media and marketing man said in his weekly Orchids and Onions column that the ad is perfectly put together by Miles Goodall of Sweet Spot Content. Orchids to him, the team at Draftfcb Johannesburg and to Old Mutual. Long may you all continue to produce these type of ads, in South Africa, for South Africa's people.

This accolade is testament to Sweet Spot Content's revolutionary collaborative formula - a collaboration of two directors that's truly unique in the industry.

Miles Goodall and Gareth Paul come together to combining their talents and abilities - which are not merely compatible, but complimentary - to form an incredible co-direction team. With Miles as director and cinematographer, and Gareth as director and production designer, their separate focuses ensure no time is wasted.

Old Mutual Dreams' is a great example of Sweet Spot's ability to bring stories to life. In this campaign, real stories of real South Africans were told as Old Mutual gave six people the chance to experience their dreams, years before they actually happen.

The TV commercial beautifully encapsulates the idea that people need to plan ahead so that they can do great things. They effortlessly overcome the challenge of directing real people in a way that still looks and feels completely real.

We see Magauta as she watches her nine-year-old daughter play with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra - making her dream of being a professional musician come true 15 years early.

Over the past year, the teams winning formula has been spotted and appreciated in every project that they have worked on.

They shot Toyota Ice Cream' with Draftfcb, of which Creative Director James Cloete said: Miles has a fantastic eye and an ability to bring his vision to light, while Gareth brings a wonderful art direction sensibility and organised way of thinking.

And the 1Life Changing Lives' campaign was another great example of their storytelling ability. 1Life brand assistant Matt Arnold said: What stood out for me was the efficiency of all aspects of the production and how well they understood the intricacies of the stories, as well as how well they were translated onto screen.

Other commercials include Energade Doppelgangers' and Econet Fisherman', of which Econet Zimbabwe's brand manager, Clever Isaya, said: Sweet Spot Content is a very professional outfit. They were flexible in addressing any client requests - something you don't often experience with production houses.

The success of all of these commercials proves that Sweet Spot Content's formula is a winning one.
