Vizrt's broadcast graphics and video tools will be used by every major US television network.
This Tuesday, the United States goes to the polls to vote for the lawmakers who will determine the future of the country. The midterm elections occur halfway through the presidential election cycle (two years before and after) and include numerous local elections, state ballot initiatives, and federal offices including the US House of Representatives and US Senate. This year's election will determine which of the United States' two main political parties will control the main governing body of the US government, the United States Congress.
This key election presents a challenge for broadcasters as they prepare their live coverage of the results. The swing in power between parties, the great many local elections, and key battle ground elections will all need to be displayed with great clarity for the viewers at home.
For the first time, Vizrt's broadcast graphics and video tools will be used by every major US television network. The data visualization capabilities of our systems such as Viz Engine, Viz Pilot, Viz Multiplay, Viz Virtual Studio, Viz World,and Viz Trio, will be foremost in the efforts to clearly display the events of the evening as they develop. Each broadcaster is prepared to tell the story in their own unique way.
The Vizrt Social TV solution will be used to generate social interactions as well as display live analytics for voter sentiments.
Some interesting developments will occur in the way social media is displayed. American viewers will have a unique opportunity to let their voices be heard beyond the ballots through social interactions with many of the broadcasters. The Vizrt Social TV solution allows the broadcasters to communicate and display viewers' comments, as well as analyze viewer sentiments with geographic breakdowns, providing a real-time way of seeing the political leaning of the country as the election takes place.
Videowalls will be in heavy use by many of the broadcasters. A recent trend is to have a large number of monitors and videowalls in the studio to aide with complex storytelling. To ease the complexity of controlling content for all of the screens and videowalls, Vizrt has created a unique version of Viz Engine that outputs 8 real-time graphics and video channels in a single system. This, when combined with Viz Multiplay, gives the broadcasters a new way to control all of the content for every screen simultaneously. Multiple candidates and their statistics can displayed in the screens or videowalls and the broadcasters can very easily control the location and size of the graphics to focus on a specific story or election result. Never before have broadcasters been able to control, with such flexibility, the content displayed in the studio.
Virtual and interactive content will allow presenters to drive the pacing and narrative of the election results.
One of the stars of the election night will be the use of virtual graphics, both in terms of virtual sets, and augmented reality. We have seen this technology being used more and more recently and viewers can expect to see new uses on Tuesday night. Viz Virtual Studio, through it's integrations with data feeds, will be displaying election results live and showing every race in ways that are unique to each broadcaster.
The major networks are not the only ones using Vizrt for their election coverage. Hundreds of local broadcasters will be displaying their local election results using the full suite of Vizrt products. We are also renting out systems to broadcasters who want additional firepower for their election coverage.
