The South African audio visual industry bids farewell to John Volmink

The National Film and Video Foundation is saddened to learn of the passing of producer and co-founder of Diprente, John Volmink.

As a founding partner of Diprente, John's contribution to the audio visual industry was immeasurable. Diprente specialises in the development and production of television, feature film and digital content, bringing a unique combination of creative and commercial talent to the industry and the team which includes Isaac Mogojane and Kagiso Lediga have been hailed as beacons for the film industry at large.

Diprente produced the two-time International Emmy nominated news satire show Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola' and also recently produced Bantu Hour', which received three nominations for the 11th annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs). His body of work includes the upcoming film, Catching Feelings', Blitz Patrollie and The Mayor' amongst other projects.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to his wife, daughter, friends and colleagues. John's passing is a great loss to the industry. His talent, passion and business skills opened many doors for young filmmakers and exposed the international world to unique South African content. We at the NFVF could always call on him to participate on various NFVF panels during workshops at film festivals. His willingness to share his expertise in order to grow the industry was exemplary and he will be sorely missed at the Foundaiton says Zama Mkosi, CEO of the National Film and Video Foundation.

The funeral service will be held as follows:

Venue: St Johns College, Main Chapel,

St David Road, Houghton, Johannesburg

Time: 10h45

A memorial service will also be held at His People Church (Solly Smeidt Street, N1 City, Cape Town) on Saturday, 11 March 2017 at 10h45

May his soul rest in eternal peace and may his legacy live on through the body of work he has left behind and the talent he has introduced to the South African audio visual industry.
