NFVF statement on the announcement of its new council members

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) of South Africa under the leadership of Ms. Zama Mkosi welcomes the appointment of its new Council Members by the Minister of Arts and Culture. The appointed Council members will serve on the NFVF Council until 30th of April 2017. The role of the council as appointed is to oversee the implementation of the NFVF objectives as per the NFVF Act No. 73 of 1997.

The appointment of the new council came at a crucial period; a time when the new government was to commence office. The new council members bring with them a wealth of expertise and knowledge drawn from various sectors of the South African economy. We are very thrilled with the announcement of our new administration. The previous three years, under the leadership of Ms. Mmabatho Ramagoshi were very fruitful; their focus amongst others, being transformation, particularly in the development of youth and female filmmakers, people from disadvantaged background and the disabled. I'm proud to say that we have seen positive results out of their strategy and look forward to the next three years of local film growth and development, says Zama Mkosi, NFVF CEO.

Ms. Mkosi adds that We are very confident that the new council will guide us as we continue to implement our mandate of developing and promoting the local film and video industries domestically and globaly. Congratulations to the team, under the leadership of Ms. Mmabatho Ramagoshi, who will be serving her second term as the chairperson of the NFVF council.

Other new council members that have been re-appointed from the outgoing council are Mr. George Leolo, who returns as deputy chairperson and Advocate Roshan Dehal.
