FIC Content Sales Signs Five New Distribution Deals for M. Night Shymalan s New Event riller Wayward Pines

Washington, D.C - 7th April, 2014. FOX International Channels (FIC) Content Sales, FIC's newly formed content distribution arm, has secured five new distribution deals for producer M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming suspense-filled 10-episode event thriller, Wayward Pines , starring Matt Dillon, just months after bring it to the market.

In Canada, City TV (owned by Rogers Media) has come on board for the US simulcast whilst Shomi, Roger Media's new SVOD joint venture, has picked up second window rights to the series. The show has also been sold to Sky in New Zealand, STAR World in India, DBS in Israel and Filmbox in Romania.

The recently locked licensees have committed to joining the planned May 14th, 2015 global day & date launch for Wayward Pines, making it the largest scripted-drama launch in television history.

FIC is a leader in global launches and has made headway with creating brands behind these shows. Wayward Pines is a key property for us and this being our second market since FIC Content Sales' consolidation, we are thrilled to have secured key territory deals with partners, said Prentiss Fraser, FIC's Senior Vice President & Global Head of Content Sales.

FIC bought into the FOX Broadcasting Company and FX Productions produced Wayward Pines last year. In addition to broadcasting the series across owned channels, FIC also controls all rights outside of the U.S., and is directly managing all first and second window international television, non-linear and home-entertainment sales for the property via its distribution division, FIC Content Sales (FIC Content Sales). FIC Content Sales previously inked a deal with France's CANAL+.

Based on a best-selling novel by Blake Crouch, Wayward Pines follows Secret Service Agent Ethan Burke (Academy Award nominee Matt Dillon), who arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, Idaho on a mission to find two missing federal agents. Each step closer to the truth takes Ethan further from the life he knew, from the husband and father he was, until he must face the terrifying reality that he may never get out of Wayward Pines alive.

Developed for television by Chad Hodge ( The Playboy Club ) and executive produced by M. Night Shyamalan ( The Sixth Sense ), Hodge, Donald De Line ( The Italian Job ), and Ashwin Rajan ( After Earth, Devil ) Wayward Pines stars a high-profile ensemble cast, including Matt Dillon ( Crash ), Melissa Leo ( The Fighter ), Toby Jones ( The Hunger Games ), Terrence Howard ( The Butler ) and Juliette Lewis ( August: Osage County ).
