African Movie Academy Awards nominations: South African films feature prominently --

The African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), has announced the 2014 nominees for the 10th edition of this pan-African event.

Various South African films feature prominently on the list of the continents prestigious awards for filmmakers of the African Diaspora.

Writer and director Jahmil X.T. Qubeka s Of Good Report has been nominated in 13 categories; The Forgotten Kingdom, directed by Andrew Mudge and produced by ZenHQ Films in Cape Town, has been nominated for nine awards, while feel-good movie Felix, directed by Roberta Durrant and written by South African Writers Guild Muse Award winner Shirley Johnston received eight nominations.

Of Good Report and The Forgotten Kingdom are in the running for Best Feature Film; Mudge and Qubeka have both been nominated in the Best Director of a Feature Film category, with Mudge and Durrant receiving nominations for Best First Feature Film by a Director.

Highly successful South African animated feature film Khumba by Triggerfish Animation Studios on Cape Town has been nominated in the Best Animation category.
