STANDING-ROOM ONLY REMOTE PHY SEMINAR, FALL TECHNICAL FORUM DEBUT, INSIGHTS FROM TOP CEOS POWER SUCCESS OF SCTE ISBE CABLE-TEC EXPO 2017 OCT. 20, 2017 (Denver, CO)-Massive interest in next-generation network architectures, the debut of a Fall Technical Forum program of thought leadership and tremendous support from prominent industry CEOs and associations powered the success of SCTE ISBE Cable-Tec Expo 2017, it was announced today by the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and its global arm, the International Society of Broadband Experts.

Expo's Oct. 17-20 run at the Colorado Convention Center featured a seminar on Remote PHY that drew more than 400 people to the main venue and two standing-room only overflow rooms, collaboration with NCTA and CableLabs on the Fall Technical Forum program, and a keen interest in innovation and deal-making that pushed the number of exhibitor booths past the 400 mark - including 75 first time exhibitors. In an indication of Expo's growth internationally and in new market areas, 22% of the approximately 8,800 registered attendees came from outside of the United States and 19% of the registered total were first-time attendees.

Among the highlights of Expo 2017 were:

A powerful opening day lineup that included insights from four of the industry's most prominent executives: Charter Communications Chairman and CEO Tom Rutledge; Comcast Cable President and CEO Dave Watson; Liberty Global CEO Mike Fries; and ARRIS CEO Bruce McClelland;

A total of 98 Fall Technical Forum sessions - a 36% increase over the 2016 Expo workshops program -- across six tracks: Business Services; Evolved Networks; Cloud Virtualization; Security and Authentication; Customer Journey; and Future Services and Technologies; and

The growth of Expo into a pivot of a week of educational and networking activities involving an expanded array of associations, including the Cable TV Pioneers, Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT), the National Association for Minorities in Cable (NAMIC), the American Cable Association (ACA), the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC) and the Cable Center.

Expo 2017 was co-chaired by Jim Blackley, executive vice president, engineering and information technology for Charter Communications, and Terry Cordova, vice chairman, business development-network and technology services, for Altice USA.

While all of the metrics around SCTE ISBE Cable-Tec Expo 2017 were strong, what's most important is how we've continued to improve the quality of the program offered to attendees, said Mark Dzuban, president and CEO of SCTE ISBE. Thanks to the guidance of multiple supporters - most notably our program chairs, Jim Blackley and Terry Cordova; our outgoing board chair, Tony Werner; and our new board chair, Bill Warga - Expo 2017 set new standards as an event that underscores SCTE ISBE's role as the catalyst for new technologies that are the backbone of our industry.

SCTE ISBE Cable-Tec Expo 2018 will be held Monday, Oct. 22 through Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Kevin Hart, executive vice president and Chief Product and Technology Officer for Cox Communications, will serve as Program Committee chairman for the 2015 event.
