Tom Sahara, Turner Sports VP, To Keynote DTV Audio Forum at S

Tom Sahara, Turner Sports, Vice President of Operations & Technology, a long-time leader in broadcast audio production, will keynote tomorrow's DTV Audio Group Production and Distribution Forum at the 135th Audio Engineering Society Convention in New York. Entitled Audio Production in an Evolving Television Distribution Landscape, the program will feature panes and presentations by the leading names in broadcast audio who will address how audio is playing a pivotal role in the transition from traditional broadcasting to streaming on multiple devices.

The first DTV Audio Group Forum is open to all AES attendees and is being held Friday, October 18 from 2:30 to 6:00 pm at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. The session is produced in association with the SVG and is sponsored by: Dale Pro Audio, Dolby Laboratories , DTS , JBL Professional, Linear Acoustic s, Studer, and Yamaha.

Sahara's keynote will provide data about the explosive growth of media on mobile devices and will illustrate how developing technologies for immersive and interactive audio and virtual surround will impact this trend. His presentation will also address how exploding demands for mobile data will relinquish remaining TV spectrum.

Tom Sahara, chairman of the Sports Video Group and chairman emeritus of the DTV Audio Group, is a 30-year veteran of the broadcast industry, Sahara has been with Turner Broadcasting since 1997 overseeing the remote broadcast facilities for all Turner Sports productions, which includes the day-to-day operations of the live sports productions seen on TBS and TNT as well as supporting the infrastructure for the Turner Sports online properties. During his time with the company, Turner Sports has evolved into a market leader in multi-platform sports production, producing the Emmy award-winning TrackPass application on NASCAR.com and the Emmy nominated PGA Pipeline on PGA.com.
