Day two at NAB Show 2019 brought a fresh range of announcements from the likes of Haivision, Shure and AWS.

First, Ross Video launched an array of production equipment including the ceiling-mounted Furio SkyDolly and the Ultricore BCS and Ultricore IP broadcast control systems with the optional IP licence for enhanced efficiency. The company, which acquired sport graphics software provider Piero last month, also released Voyager, a new graphics render engine for virtual studio/augmented reality applications.

Haivision announced its new SRT Peer-to-Peer (SRT P2P) open source contribution to the SRT framework, providing low-latency video delivery to broad scale audiences. According to Haivision, SRT P2P is a lightweight, plugin-free, decentralised peer-to-peer streaming technology built on multicast concepts and real-time video streaming.

MediaKind also announced a partnership with Google Cloud to enable the company's solutions portfolio to operate on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This allows MediaKind customers to benefit from Google Cloud's ecosystem of assets, including TensorFlow and BigTable, along with advanced AI and ML APIs.

Meanwhile, Amazon Web Services (AWS) showcased its Accelerated Transcoding feature, which sits in AWS Elemental MediaConvert and enables broadcasters, OTT distributors and other premium content providers to complete their video transcoding projects up to 25 times faster. The company added that AWS Elemental MediaConvert includes Quality-Defined Variable Bitrate control (QVBR) which can reduce file size by up to 50 per cent by automatically adjusting bitrate on a frame-by-frame basis.

Shure's TwinPlex microphone Shure unveiled TwinPlex, a new line of premium subminiature (5mm) omnidirectional lavalier and headset microphones. Designed to withstand the toughest conditions, TwinPlex provides natural audio at both high and low frequency, while the easy-to-conceal package makes it ideal for quick costume changes.

In developing TwinPlex, we gathered valuable input from leading industry professionals at every stage of the process and extensively tested prototypes to ensure we were ready, said John Born, senior global product manager at Shure. This resulted in a comprehensive portfolio of more than 60 versions in a variety of colour, connector, cable, frequency response and sensitivity to meet the demands of any application when you need amazing sound quality and unprecedented durability.
