Mediadruckwerk becomes early investor in Fujifilm's Jet Press 750S B2 inkjet press Full-service German print business is the first in Germany and one of the first in Europe to invest in the Fujifilm Jet Press 750S

Originally founded as a copy shop near Hamburg University in the early 1980s, Mediadruckwerk is now a major full service print business employing 60 people and producing a huge range of quality products, from postcards and greetings cards, to brochures, calendars, posters, stationery, packaging, annual reports and high quality short run books. Offering an end-to-end service, the company's capabilities include sheet-fed offset, digital print technologies and web-2-print as well as various finishing systems, graphic design and logistics. Operating out of a 3,500 square metre facility, the company is currently making a major investment in its future, building an additional new 2,000 square metre hall, which will house all of its existing digital print equipment as well as a brand new Fujifilm Jet Press 750S, which will be installed in early 2019.

Like print businesses everywhere, we're seeing a continual trend towards demand for shorter runs and faster turnarounds, says Mediadruckwerk CEO Sven Kohlmeier. "This has been ongoing for some time and as a result we began investing in digital print technology around 20 years ago. Since then, digital print has come a long way both in terms of quality and reliability, and we feel that the Jet Press 750S sets a new high standard for both in the digital print market.

We've been aware of the Jet Press for some time. We first came across it at drupa in 2012, and having been a Fujifilm plates customer for nearly ten years, we're well aware of their digital print technology. Now, with this latest generation of the Jet Press coming to market, we're confident that it is the right time for us to invest.

Jet Press quality has always been outstanding, but with the Jet Press 750S it has improved yet again, while the increased speed opens up the real possibility for us to move a significant amount of short to mid-run work from our offset presses.

The reliability was also a major selling point for us. We've visited several Jet Press customers to ask them directly how they would rate the up-time and all of them have said it's exceptionally good. Minimal machine downtime means additional productivity, and when you combine that with the increased speed of the 750S it's hugely appealing.

We're always looking to the future, Kohlmeier concludes. That's the reason we began investing in digital print technology 20 years ago and it's the reason for this new investment today. When you look at the full package that the Jet Press 750S represents - the quality, the reliability, the versatility and the speed - it's the obvious choice to help us to stay ahead of market trends, and our customers' demands.
