Shortlisted filmmakers announced for the NFVF and Netflix Film Fund

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), in partnership with Netflix, have shortlisted candidates for their joint film fund valued at R28 Million. The fund provides 100% funding for six micro-budget films, with four budgeted at R4 million and two budgeted at R6 million.

The partnership, announced in March 2021, was followed by a public call for submissions starting on the 1st of April 2021 until the 7th of May 2021 which the industry responded to with a resounding number of 284 applications! After a rigorous evaluation period, we are proud to announce the following filmmakers who have made it to the second phase where they will be invited to pitch their projects to a panel. The pitch-day sessions will be held in September 2021.
