At ICG, we believe that a little kindness goes a long way-and on Random Acts of Kindness Day on Monday, we set out to prove just that at Rochdale Riverside!
To mark the occasion, we designed a fun and engaging Finders Keepers' gift card giveaway, hiding ten surprise £10 gift cards around the shopping centre for lucky visitors to discover.
But we didn't stop there we drove footfall and built excitement by dropping clues on Instagram and Facebook Stories, turning the initiative into an interactive treasure hunt for shoppers.
Small Gesture. Big Impact
What started as a simple giveaway quickly transformed the shopping experience at Rochdale Riverside. Shoppers eagerly followed the clues, racing to be the first to claim a hidden prize. The thrill of the hunt brought people together, creating unexpected moments of joy and plenty of celebratory smiles as lucky finders shared their wins on social media.
Beyond the feel-good factor, the campaign also delivered measurable success for the centre. The buzz of excitement helped drive footfall, contributing to an increase in visitor numbers.
Supported by paid social activity in the week prior, the campaign had a significant impact on Rochdale Riverside's social media, with impressions up by 1,540%, reach increasing by 1,448%, and engagement growth of 255% week on week.
It was a clear demonstration that positive engagement and immersive experiences can encourage more shoppers to visit and interact with the centre.
More Than Just Shopping
This campaign was about more than just giveaways-it was about creating an uplifting experience, strengthening the sense of community at Rochdale Riverside, and reminding everyone that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a difference.
With shoppers leaving with big smiles (and some unexpected treats!), the event was a huge success and a brilliant example of how creative, engaging marketing can enhance customer experience, drive engagement, and boost footfall.
