The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) pays more than 18 million social grants to recipients.

Unfortunately, they haven't kept up as well with the requirements of modern social media. The Twitter/X account for the national grant agency (@OfficialSASSA) hasn't been updated in several years.

More than three to be exact.

Here's where to reach SASSA outside of the X platform, where their account appears to be standing still.

The last post that appears on the account was made in April, 2020: that's several years ago.

This means that Twitter isn't the best platform to connect with the agency. If you're hoping to reach them, then you might have to try something different.

SASSA on Twitter SASSA hasn't posted on Twitter in over three years.

The account still appears on their website, though doesn't seem to be active anymore.

Maybe the account has lost access, or maybe news channels have become a better way for them to connect with grant recipients.

SASSA's last tweet The last Tweet from the official account was made on April 24, 2020.

This was the last thing said on the official account for the agency:

R300 per child will be added to Child Support Grants in May only, making it R740 per child. From June until Oct 2020 this grant will go back to R440 per child but each caregiver will get an additional R500 regardless of the number of children they receive a grant for

While there have been increases in some social grants for 2023, the official Twitter account has remained completely quiet.

How to contact them The best way to contact SASSA might not be their X account.

There are better ways, such as calling the agency's National Hotline for assistance; +27 80 060 1011.
