Pan-African cast to feature in Ghanaian film --

Six years ago Ghanaian filmmaker Juliet Asante met a young girl in Accra who was working as a kayayo - someone who helps shoppers carry their goods. Curious about her story Asante spent time learning more about this common African trade and developed the film Silver Rain, which features a cast from five African countries. The story made it into the final selection round of the Sundance festival Scriptwriting Lab in 2011.

Silver Rain tells the story a street girl in Accra who begins a friendship with a wealthy heir. The two come from completely different worlds and their relationship is challenged by politics, social pressures and crossing the class divide.

Asante believes Silver Rain is just one of many captivating African narratives which the world needs to hear and said, We believe and know that Africa stands in a unique position to make an impact on the world through its films. One of the most important path to achieving this, is through the making of pan- African movies that leverages on our collective strengths as a continent! Silver Rain opens this door and calls on other players in the industry to push it wide open!

The film stars Enyinna Nwigwe, Joselyn Dumas, Chumani Pan, Belinda Baido, Uru Eke, Elikem Kumordzie, Charles Kofi Bucknor and was shot in Ghana and South Africa. It is written and directed by Asante, shot by South African director of photography Nate Thomas and produced by Eagle Productions and 4syte Studios.
