Generations cast that refused to work have been fired --

On Monday, 11 August 2014, MMSV Productions stopped production of Generations, SABC1 s most popular soapie and biggest money maker, due to the cast refusing to work any longer.
Generations earns hundreds of millions of rands for SABC1 and the SABC. It is the most watched soap, drawing a national average audience of around 7.5 million viewers on weeknights on SABC1.
This is the second time the show s cast have brought production to a standstill, however this time the cast have formed the Generations Actors Guild in order to protect their interests, and are demanding the SABC follow through on its promise of better contracts, higher remuneration and the payment of royalties owed.
According to the Generations Actors Guild, on 12 August 2014, the SABC ordered the Generations cast to resume production of the show by 13 August, or face immediate discharge, but the cast still refused to return to work.
Late Monday night, 18 August, news broke that 16 Generations cast members who refused to return to work have been fired.
MMSV Productions said it had dismissed their contracts.
The SABC and MMSV Productions released a press statement ensuring the public that measures have been put in place to ensure the show continues and that these measures would be made public soon.
MMSV Productions, following consultation with the South African Broadcasting Corporation [SABC], have today [Monday, 18 August] terminated the contracts of the striking actors on the SABC1 soap drama, Generations. The termination follows calls by both parties for the actors to return for recordings, following the start of their illegal strike.

Thato Molamu (Nicholas)
Winnie Ntshaba (Khetiwe)

Zikhona Sodlaka (Priska)
Zolisa Xaluva (Jason)
