NAB launches for newly-partnered PlayBox

-- PlayBox Technology reported a successful NAB, including the release of its CaptureBox Pro and AirBox, following the company's acquisition by Masstech, announced earlier this year.

Our new partnership with Masstech helped make this an outstandingly successful show in the 10 years PlayBox Technology has exhibited at NAB, commented Phillip Neighbour, business development manager of PlayBox Technology UK. We met many existing clients and a substantial number of potential new customers.

PlayBox Technology used the Show to announce new additions to its product range. These included CaptureBox PRO, which enables multiple channels of HD or SD content to be captured from HD/SD SDI digital feeds, analogue sources and MPEG transport streams. Four video sources can be monitored on a single screen and controlled via a new streamlined user interface, and audio levels can be monitored as loudness/true-peak displays and adjusted when required.

Also released at NAB was AirBox, which provides automated content playout for satellite channels, cable head-ends, over-the-air broadcasters and corporate TV users. The new version incorporates a GPU-enhanced graphics mixing engine which allows video rotation effects and depth-order laying effects to be performed in realtime. Logo animation facilities have been added for applications such as titling, captioning or channel branding, and the audio capabilities have been expanded with support now provided for Dolby E and Dolby Digital Plus.

The high reputation of Masstech in the Americas, and of PlayBox Technology among EAME and APAC broadcasters, looks set to make the corporate partnership a very strong one, added PlayBox Technology marketing manager Peter Petrov.
