Presidio and NHL Renew Multiyear North American Technology Partnership

Presidio and the National Hockey League have announced a multiyear renewal of their North American partnership. Presidio will remain an Official Technology Innovation Partner of the NHL, continuing to support broadcast infrastructure for more than 1,300 games annually and day-to-day League operations.

In just three years, Presidio and the NHL have turned a shared vision for technology innovation into three major solutions that support some of the League's most critical operations: the NHL Draft Application, the Virtual Technology Operations Center, and the NHL Watch Comms App, says Bob Cagnazzi, CEO, Presidio. NHL Draft Application

The NHL Draft Application, in use since 2023, runs on a hybrid-cloud environment centralizing data across NHL Operations, Clubs, Communications, Central Scouting, and Central Registry. It supports player information management, pick submissions, selection announcements, and trade processing, and integrates with NHL Central Registry and Central Scouting beyond Draft day. The application will be used at the 2026 Upper Deck NHL Draft in Buffalo, June 26-27 at KeyBank Center (Round 1 on ESPN, ESPN+, Sportsnet, and TVA Sports; Rounds 2-7 on NHL Network, ESPN+, and Sportsnet).

Virtual Technology Operations Center (VTOC)

The VTOC is a centralized, cloud-based system integrating production workflows and venue feeds into a unified interface for live game production across the NHL season.

NHL Watch Comms App

Developed with Apple, the NHL Watch Comms App is a custom Apple Watch application providing on-ice officials with haptic notifications for period countdowns (at 10, 3, 2, and 1 seconds), penalty box expiration timing, and remaining time on game and penalty clocks. The app is currently used by 95% of on-ice NHL Officials.
