Indonesian Film 24 Hours with Gaspar' Finds Global Home on Netflix After Festival Success

After touring multiple festivals around the world, 24 Hours with Gaspar has found its permanent home on Netflix. The highly anticipated film by Yosep Anggi Noen premiered in Busan, where it became the first Indonesian title to be nominated for the Jiseok award. Its run included screenings at the Red Sea International Film Festival, Singapore International Film Festival, and Jogja-Netpac Film Festival in Indonesia.

Produced by Visinema with Kawan-Kawan Media, the film is directed by Yosep Anggi Noen, an acclaimed director known for The Science of Fictions (2019), which was nominated for the Golden Leopard category at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. Last year, 24 Hours with Gaspar made history by securing nine Festival Film Indonesia nominations, including Best Supporting Actress, Best Costume Design, and Best Director. The film clinched the award for Best Adapted Screenplay by M. Irfan Ramli.

Adapted from the novel of the same name by Sabda Amandio, the story is set in a dystopian future of Indonesia, and follows tGaspar, a private detective with only 24 hours to live. As he discovers clues leading to the mysterious disappearance of Kirana, his childhood friend, and later Wan Ali, who's involved in a human trafficking syndicate, Gaspar decides to rob a jewelry store owned byWan Ali within his remaining hours.

The film also features a star-studded cast, including multiple award winner Reza Rahadian, Laura Basuki, and rising stars Shenina Cinnamon and Kristo Immanuel.

Producer Cristian Imanuell says, We are very excited that 24 Hours with Gaspar is streaming globally on Netflix and can be enjoyed by audiences from many different countries. We hope that 24 Hours with Gaspar can be a testament to how Indonesian titles can make a mark in the global film industry.

Yosep Anggi Noen adds: When creating the film, we envisioned this story of Indonesian dystopia to resonate with audiences not just within Indonesia but also worldwide. Thus, I was determined to deliver the highest quality outcome to do justice to the original source material. I am thankful that I was given the creative freedom to do so.

Lead actor Reza Rahadian agrees, saying: Portraying Gaspar has been thrilling, and it is one of the most unique roles I've ever played, providing ample room for exploration. Having introduced the film in several countries, I eagerly anticipate sharing this story with a global audience on Netflix.
