A notice is hereby given that Paul Mashatile, the Minister of Arts and Culture, invites nominations of persons to serve on the Council of the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF).

Section 6(1) of the National Film and Video Foundation Act, 1997 (Act No. 73 of 1997) states that the Foundation shall act through a Council comprising of no fewer than nine (9) and no more than fourteen (14) members. In terms of section 6(5)(a) of the Act, a member of the Council is appointed for a period not exceeding three (3) years.

The nominated candidates must possess a thorough knowledge or experience in the film and video industry or specialist skills which are not directly related to the film and video industry which can be beneficial to the Council. Skills in the following areas will serve as an advantage:

Financial Management

Risk Management

Governance Compliance

Legal

Marketing

Fundraising

Information Technology

Internal Auditing

Grounds for Disqualification

No person shall be appointed as a member of the Council if he or she:

a) Is an unrehabilitated insolvent;

b) Has been convicted of an offence and sentenced to imprisonment without the option of a fine; and

c) Is not a South African citizen permanently residing in the Republic.

Nomination Particulars

Nominations should be submitted in writing and must have the following details:

1. Full name and address of the persons or organisation nominating the candidate;

2. A curriculum vitae of the candidate which must include:

Candidate s full names, ID number and gender;

Contact address, telephone, fax and email address;

Certified copies of all qualifications; and

At least three (3) names and contact details of references.

3. A signed letter of acceptance of the nomination from the candidate.

Strict compliance with the nomination requirements is essential.
