As somebody who grew up in the region, I am delighted to be taking up the role of Northwest Correspondent. I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to continue the great work that Eileen Magnier did over the past four decades.

I'm looking forward to covering the stories that matter to the people of Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo. The impact of the defective blocks crisis, challenges in healthcare, housing, infrastructure, fishing and farming are just some of the important issues I look forward to covering. I also look forward to reporting on the positive stories and triumphs in the Northwest.

Shane Curraigh n will be taking up the post in August, 2024.

Note: The role was previously held by Eileen Magnier, who recently retired.
