Harmonic has announced new capabilities for its sports streaming platform, covering multiview, programmatic advertising, in-stream advertising, and content watermarking.
Live sports represent the most valuable and demanding content in streaming today, says Jean Macher, Senior Director of Global SaaS Solutions, Harmonic. Sports fans expect immersive, real-time experiences - and sports rights buyers need solutions that can monetize live events while delivering compelling viewing experiences that keep fans engaged. Our enhanced live sports streaming solution, built through collaboration across the sports ecosystem, reinforces Harmonic's commitment to helping customers maintain a competitive edge in an increasingly dynamic marketplace.
Multiview
Harmonic's server-side multiview solution allows viewers to watch multiple games or camera angles simultaneously. It is compatible with any end device, supports HD and UHD templates configurable via API or UI, and can be deployed in a geo-redundant environment.
Programmatic Advertising
Harmonic's live sports streaming solution now supports programmatic advertising for live sports CTV inventory in collaboration with Viant Technology and its contextual intelligence platform IRIS.TV. The solution generates scene-level contextual segments - including game start and end times, score changes, and key moments - and activates them within Viant's demand-side platform for CTV. Publishers can monetize live inventory in real time, including overtime.
In-Stream Advertising
Server-side in-stream advertising is now in production at a U.S. regional sports network, deployed during live NBA and NHL games. The solution triggers ads based on real-time game moments and can also be enabled on multiview channels.
Watermarking
Harmonic has integrated forensic watermarking from NAGRA NexGuard and Irdeto's TraceMark, supporting both A/B and distribution-level watermarking. The integrations enable rights holders to identify and shut down illegal streams.
